Bath Maine Bed and Breakfast

Built in 1874 for Galen Clapp Moses, the bed and breakfast located in Bath Maine, became an instant celebrity in Bath when Jim and Larry purchased it in 1994 to create a bed & breakfast. There are surprises throughout the house, from the elegant gardens and rooms filled with tasteful antiques to the full theatre located on the third floor  (and once used to entertain officers from the nearby Naval Air Station during World War II).

A full breakfast is served each morning. While juices, fresh brewed coffee and a variety of muffins are available for early risers and late sleepers, the full breakfast between 8:00am and 9:00am adds such entrees as walnut pancakes with orange sauce, mushroom or artichoke quiche, sour cream and chive omelets, baked french toast, cinnamon waffles with Maine maple syrup.
The rooms within the bed and breakfast are large and reminiscent of the 19th-century grand Victorian style. Each downstairs room has high ceilings, elaborate friezes, original chandeliers and beautiful stained glass windows. Upstairs are the sleeping accommodations which continue the uniqueness of this home. A sampling of the rooms available is found below. For details on the other rooms please call or email.
The Victorian Room with its high ceiling and bay windows has a panoramic view of Washington Street, a street listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This lovely room contains a queen-sized bed, a white marble fireplace, a sitting area and quite a collection of antiques.

The Moses Room contains twin beds with its own antique washstand and the original plaster frieze on all four walls. The wallpaper is a 1900 reproduction from the Birge Company of Buffalo, New York. The bath, though in the hallway, contains full original claw foot up (a new shower added) and the original sink.
The Vintage Room looking out on historic Washington Street, has high ceilings, an antique queen size bed, an original washstand and lots of light. The bath is large an airy.

The Safari Room has a queen-size bed and is decorated with an exotic mix of Asian and African artifacts.
The only accommodation in Bath with AAA Approval. A 3-diamond rating, the highest given to a Bed and Breakfast. The bed and breakfast  is on the National Register of Historic Homes and has been featured in a number of publications, including the Bank of England's employees magazine "The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street", "The Insider's Guide: Maine's Southern Coast", "The Romantic Northeast" (Ken Christensen), "Maine, Off the Beaten Path" (Wayne Curtis), and all three major newspapers serving Bath.
