Winter Wonderland Weekend (3/14/2008 thru 3/16/2008) Check-in Friday and unwind from your busy week. You may even be brave enough to sit around our evening campfire in the brisk night air! Saturday morning after breakfast you will begin a chauffered Amish Country Adventure. Our local tour guide will take you off on the back roads to learn all about Amish Culture and Customs. Along the way you will stop at an Amish home for lunch which includes: Vegetable Beef and Chicken Noodle Soup, Deluxe Macaroni Salad, Broccoli-Cauliflower Salad, Waldorf Salad, homemade Banana Bread and "Mennonite Wine" Punch. Throughout the afternoon you will visit Amish-owned businesses such as a quilt maker, furniture maker, basket maker, buggy maker, candle maker, and have plenty of shopping opportunities. Around dinner time you will visit another Amish home where you will be treated to a hearty dinner consisting of Roast Beef, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes with gravy, Noodles, Vegetable, Homemade Bread, and Beverage. For dessert you will be served Fruit Pizza, Cobbler or Apple Crisp and coffee. Have a leisurely breakfast at the Bed & Breakfast on Sunday morning before checking out. Saturday morning, after breakfast, you will embark on your Culinary Delight Tour. You will visit Steiner Cheese Factory where the history of cheese making in Ohio originated in 1833 when Jacob Steiner came here from Switzerland. Get a glimpse of cheese making in this award winning facility and try some samples. Next, visit Baltic Mills Flour Mill. This is a historic, restored mill, which is still used to grind wheat into flour. Tours are offered for the curious, and there is a gift shop featuring bulk foods, Amish crafts, bird houses, and feeders. You will receive some samples of what they grind at the mill and get a chance to do some shopping. One of the most popular places to visit in Amish Country is next on the agenda, Troyers Trail Bologna. Last year Troyer's made 1.3 million pounds of ring-style bologna and it is served in many of the local restaurants. Sample for yourself why this is such a popular product. Next stop will be Winesburg Meats. This small, home-town meat shop packs in a lot of culinary delights. Try their mushroom burger meat or cheesy-potato sausage just to name a few. We didn't forget lunch! You will visit an organic farm for your noon time meal. While your lunch is settling it is off to the famous Smucker's Jams and Jellies where you can do some more sampling. Just down the road from the factory where they make their world-famous jams and jellies is a showroom and gift shop with everything that Smuckers makes. Next stop: Mrs. Millers Noodles where they bring old fashioned goodness to their egg noodle, no-yolk and vegetable pastas. On your way back you will stop at the famous Wendell August Forge where items are hand-hammered out of aluminum and bronze. You might even catch of glimpse of the craftsman in action behind the showroom of gifts. Package Cost $397-532. In the evening, by our campfire, we're going to let each guest room plant a Fairy Dish Garden with Flowers to take home. Saturday, after breakfast, we've made reservations at a local spa for both of you to receive some pampering at a Facial Party! Your treatment includes a facial mask, use and sampling of facial Spa products, flowering tea & chocolate truffles, followed by a gourmet lunch for 2. The cheese house was established in 1933 and they have won countless awards for their exceptional quality. They will provide a gourmet box lunch at this stop. Swiss Heritage Wines are a blend of the traditional old world and the expertise of some of New York's most respected wine makers; Perennial Vineyards Winery is located in an old dairy barn dating back to the mid-1800's.
